Inn At The Convention Center

The room was so quiet, and everything else about it was excellent. There wasn't a window, and the ventilation wasn't great, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good the stay was. I'd booked the last room available at a very low rate, so I was nervous about whether it would be safe. I'd definitely think about staying here again next time I'm in town.

There was glass and a blood stain on the carpet, and my boyfriend cut his foot on a shard that was already in the room. It was clearly still there from before, and we could easily spot more pieces of glass when we looked around. The room itself was alright, but it didn't seem to have been cleaned properly between guests. I've tried reaching the property for more than two weeks and haven't received any response or even an acknowledgment. Don't stay here, especially if you have children.

The location worked well for our plans. We walked about 20 minutes to Wonder Ballroom, and there's a Dennys nearby since the hotel doesn't offer breakfast. My partner mentioned a couple of other stores close by, and there's a tram stop nearby too. Still, the hotel itself wasn't good, though if it's what you can afford, you might be able to put up with it. Our room was close to the tram, so it was loud all night. The shower was clean and had decent pressure, but getting the temperature right was tricky because a small turn either way changed it a lot. Everything else looked clean, but the TV didn't work, and a large broken piece of glass, which we thought might be from a mirror, was tucked behind the TV stand among the electrical cords. We'd booked one night for three people to see a show, for a total of $139.20. We'd split that exact amount and I'd set my share aside in savings so I wouldn't spend it, but forgot to move it into checking before we left. I don't have phone service, and when I turned my phone on to ask about Wi-Fi, I was scrambling and apologizing for the inconvenience. The front desk guy was impatient and upset, even though no one else was waiting. My partner ended up paying with their card so I could reimburse them later when I could use my phone. Then we learned about a $100 deposit that wasn't mentioned anywhere on the booking site. It caught us off guard, and luckily my partner had enough after we'd already paid for train rides and the show. Our friend in Portland was meeting us at 6 to walk to the venue, so we asked about parking. The fee was $17, so we passed, and our friend found a free spot less than a five-minute walk away. Don't pay for parking there.

It's clearly an old place, but it's the cheapest option near the moda center. The floors had lots of stains, and there was a cigarette burn hole in the sheets. Still, the mini fridge and microwave worked, the TV had some good channels, and there were no bed bugs when I checked. No DVD player, though. There's a $17 parking charge and a $100 damage deposit. It's a decent cheap stay if you keep in mind what you paid.
