Park Lane Suites and Inn

The sound carries badly here. I could clearly hear footsteps from the room above, which made it difficult to relax. Parking comes with the stay, though a full hotel may mean using an overflow lot and moving the car early in the morning, a small hassle. On the upside, the location is great and the staff are warm and welcoming. Free parking is a real perk in Portland. Still, it’s a really good hotel.

After at least six stays since I moved from the Goose Hollow neighborhood in 2019, we won't be coming back. Earlier visits were great, and the location and free parking were fantastic. On our last seven-night stay, we asked for housekeeping after a few days because we needed clean towels and toilet paper and wanted the trash and recycling taken out. After nothing happened, the front desk said service would come the next day, then kept saying it would be handled. No maids came, so we got supplies ourselves and took out the trash and recycling. At checkout, the clerk said she'd reimburse us $25 for the ongoing service problem, but I never got it. It's a shame, but we'll stay elsewhere next time.

The fresh cookies are delicious, and the location is decent, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. Noise is the main problem: the walls don't block sound, you hear it constantly, and people walking outside woke us regardless of floor. A top-level room might avoid footsteps from above, if you stay. This is a motel, not a hotel. Parking is poor; there's an overflow lot, but spaces can still be hard to find at peak times. Housekeeping has to be requested, though they did a good job cleaning the suite. There was no bathtub, and the shower pressure wasn't great either.

We had an easy, trouble-free weekend in Portland, thanks in part to a suite with a full stove, oven, fridge and freezer, toaster, and microwave, so we could prepare meals ourselves. The hotel is lovely, with helpful, friendly staff and free parking. It's within walking distance of the Japanese garden and downtown, and bus lines nearby make it easy to use Portland's convenient transit. The Goose Hollow architecture is beautiful.
