The Bidwell Marriott Portland

We celebrated our wedding here, and the team made the occasion feel special. The culinary and banquet staff served an outstanding dinner and welcomed my wife and me like family. The room was spectacular, and the front desk team made us feel welcome that evening and again at breakfast in the High Horse lounge. I’m grateful to Jacob the GM, Josh, Desiree, Ellie, Kendall, Vienna, and the bartender at High Horse, who connected us with the catering team when we visited and looked after us at breakfast the morning after dinner. What a location and atmosphere.

The location is central downtown and close to everything, but the service is what stood out. From the moment I came in, I was treated like royalty. Check-in was easy, with welcome gifts, points, and complimentary drinks and snacks. The front desk can share information about local happenings and help with whatever you need. The Mclub was clean and had plenty of snacks. Monday’s beer and wine tasting during happy hour was a nice touch. I also enjoyed stopping by the “High Horse” for a bite and a chance to mingle with the “in crowd.” A great hotel and hangout spot. I highly recommend it.

The food was disappointing, especially for the price, but I really enjoyed my stay. The views were great, the staff were all wonderful, and both the room and bathroom were just right. The bar was a blast, and I loved the complimentary wine tasting. The location worked perfectly for the Portland Book Festival, and I felt very safe in the area. I’d definitely stay again.

I liked the hotel, but I didn’t feel safe enough to say I’d stay again. I was there for business, and the M lounge was open, though its coffee machine was broken for most of my stay. They kindly offered to get coffee for us from the bar. My room was clean and housekeeping came every day. The ice machine on the 19th floor was out of order, so I couldn’t get ice. The glass bottles in the room for refilling water were a nice touch. I’d recommend having security at the entrance around the clock. People experiencing homelessness often got in my face asking for money and wouldn’t accept no. Early one morning at checkout, a man with a bloody nose tried to take my luggage while the valet had brought my car up. The valet doesn’t stay outside, so you have to leave your keys at the desk and often wait 15-20 minutes for the car. With people who seemed mentally unstable and combative right out front, the hotel should invest in security to keep guests safe.
