Hampton Inn Portsmouth Central

We’ve already booked another stay for the second surgery. We chose this location to be near the surgical center and eyecare office, and it’s also surrounded by medical resources, restaurants, and shops. Peter at the front desk was especially helpful, even opening my salsa and queso jars. The staff were patient and kind. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, pool, and hot tub, though we didn’t use the 24-hour fitness room.

We first stayed here in 2014, and this visit was just as nice. The hotel is quiet and a great value. Fall and Halloween decorations made it feel cozy, and the staff were all very nice. Breakfast was good, with hot, delicious coffee. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We’ll definitely come back.

The rooms were clean, but the phone didn’t work. I was there for more than a week and it was never fixed or replaced. Breakfast was like what you get at most Hamptons. I don’t eat the premade eggs, potatoes, or meats, but the bread, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, and fruit were great.

The construction next door was much louder than we expected. We were warned, but the machines were staged right outside the lot, and even earplugs didn’t block all the noise. The pool and hot tub were also out of service during our four-night stay. The room heat was old and malfunctioned: the thermostat kept showing 55, so even set to its lowest setting of 61, it ran constantly until the room got too hot and dry. We had to turn it off. This happened in both rooms, after we switched from the first one because of a drain problem. The place needs updates and repairs, and we wouldn’t stay again.
