Port Inn and Suites Portsmouth, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Most of the staff were warm, upbeat, and welcoming, and they made me feel comfortable during a stressful time. The hotel itself was amazing. My experience with one front desk employee, Ellen, was very different. From the moment I arrived, she came across as impatient and uninterested in helping, and I felt unwelcome. She didn't smile, was curt with her answers, and didn't show the hospitality I'd expect at the desk. Based on my experience, I genuinely feel a customer-facing job may not be the right role for her. I hope management treats this as constructive feedback. With better front desk hospitality, the hotel could offer a much better experience. The rest of the staff were lovely.

The room was clean and warm, and it did the job for the price. But the floor had such a noticeable tilt that my chair and luggage rolled toward the door, and even the toilet was slanted. The bed was tilted too and wasn't very comfortable. I wouldn't stay here again.

The staff were accommodating, the room was very clean, and the bedding was comfortable. We were driving from Boston, MA to Portland, ME on vacation and found this cheap overnight option on Google Maps. I expected a run-down place at that price, but was pleasantly surprised by the facility. It's not a fancy corporate hotel, but it was a great little place to bed down safely, with easy access to I-95. My wife thought it was super cute, so Port Inn will be on our list for our next trip to the Northeast.

The breakfast was poor, and the place needs a serious update. It's old and dated, with carpet so dirty I wouldn't walk on it barefoot. They upgraded us to a suite with a small kitchenette and sofa, but I wouldn't even sit on the sofa. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
