The Christmas lights were only a couple of minutes away, and there was an old-school Pizza Hut nearby too. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff friendly. The halls have new carpet and my room had fresh paint. If I needed to be in Lubbock the night before an event, I'd choose this place again. It felt like better value and was cleaner than A Loft and Embassy Suites in Lubbock.

The side entrance didn't lock, so anyone could walk into the building without a room key. We also found two empty, disconnected vending machines on the first floor, and staff said they didn't sell snacks. The clerk asked us to prove our service dog was a service dog, even though there's no federally required or controlled registry. That kind of requirement could put the hotel at risk of a lawsuit. At least the King suite was clean and fairly quiet. It's next to a highway, which we knew when we booked. We won't stay again. A heads-up, the two highly rated BBQ restaurants in town are closed on weekends.

The room was clean and breakfast was fine, but I was surprised to learn there's a $40.00 early check-in fee if you arrive between 12:00 noon and 12:30 pm, even though the posted check-in time is 3:00 pm. The hotel was almost vacant, so it seemed like there were plenty of rooms ready. I could understand the charge if they were extremely busy, but $40 is a lot.

After a long stretch of travel, waking up to bacon and hot coffee waiting was really nice. But while I was getting coffee, a housekeeper, or whoever she was, came through the door behind me and pushed me with it. No excuse me, no good morning, just a horrible attitude. She was a small lady with long black hair. I didn't get her name.
