Hotel Garza

Post downtown was a fun stroll, and the nearby wine bar made a great spot for an evening drink. Breakfast was delicious, though I reached a point where I couldn't eat any more. Hotel Garza is a gem, with friendly, welcoming hosts and staff. The common spaces, especially the cozy library, are beautiful and lovingly maintained. Our clean, comfortable room was nicely appointed, and each guest room has its own lovely feel. There's also a shared kitchen in the guest room hall with a refrigerator and microwave. A fantastic getaway.

We were in town for the amazing play at Ragtown Gospel Theater, out in the caprock on the outskirts of Post. My uncles Chip & Glenn Polk and their families own and run the theater. If you haven't seen Ragtown, it's a must see if you're nearby. The music and performances are truly amazing and a blessing. My husband and I live in Kansas, though my family is originally from Post (Hudman & Polk). With a six hour drive home ahead of us, we stayed at the Garza Hotel and were glad we did. It's a beautiful old hotel with antique furnishings. We had a cozy, comfortable king room on the main floor, and toured the library, main foyer, and upstairs. All the rooms are beautifully decorated in different themes. We enjoyed a full breakfast before checking out. If you're in or near Post, we'd recommend this welcoming alternative to corporate hotel chains. Staying here also helps keep history alive for future generations.

We had a very good stay. It's a nicely renovated historic hotel, with great rooms and a nice breakfast.

The place has a rustic charm and is a neat spot, with a decent breakfast. But it could use repairs. The floors slope and creak loudly, and the mattresses were really poor. The pullout was especially bad, and the main bed felt like sleeping in a massive hole. It was okay, and with so few choices around, I'd go back.
