The Ohioan Hotel & Event Center

The complimentary continental breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly. A recent renovation has made the whole place gorgeous, modern, and elegant. It feels like a little village tucked away from the city, even though it's right off a busy street. Highbank Metropark is next door, with every kind of restaurant you can imagine nearby. Such a wonderful hotel!

We had a phenomenal weekend conference here with our Bible study. The breakfast was the standout, very, very well stocked. The buildings were spacious, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, and our rooms were clean and comfortable for our needs. Staff were friendly and flexible. I'd highly recommend The Ohioan for a stay or group conference.

The fumes in the halls and rooms were so bad that we all felt sick the next morning. The windows don't open, and barely any staff seemed to be around. The front desk staff never even cracked a smile. We definitely won't be back. Such a disappointment. We'd loved staying here in 2024. It was quaint, with a little library, a grand staircase in the entryway, lots of light, and airy rooms. We came back this year without knowing about the major interior remodel. They gutted the lovely lobby, and when we visited, it was all under construction. The front desk was reduced to a little hole in the wall, with construction vehicles everywhere. The rooms now feel almost black inside, super modern, and completely unlike the hotel's exterior. It's just like every other hotel. I hate it.

The grounds are beautiful, the buildings look nice, and overall the place is really nice. Breakfast was outstanding, and we slept great. The room itself was standard, though the shower leaked heavily onto the floor. The freezer door was broken, so I took it to the front desk to make sure I wouldn't be charged for it. I also had to pay an extra 50 on a credit card when we arrived. No big deal, but I hadn't known that would happen. Construction was underway, and that hadn't been mentioned before we booked. We used an outside agency instead of booking directly with the hotel. We requested two twin beds but got a “King” room with a pullout sofa. It worked for the night, so we didn't argue. The property layout was confusing and took several minutes to figure out. The indoor pool was so cold it wasn't usable, and there was no hot tub.
