New West Motel

For a one-night stay before heading to the airport, it works. The location is great, with a grocery store and the airport nearby, and check-in service was good. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the room itself was borderline passable. It smelled of cigarettes, the walls and curtains were dirty, and the light switches were broken. No coffee maker.

For $60 a night, it’s fine. You get four walls and a bed, the shower water was hot, and it wasn’t even that noisy. Pick your battles.

The manager was polite, courteous, and helpful. I needed an affordable room for a quick Seattle-area trip, somewhere central to several places. I found New West Motel and got a clean, decent room with all the basics I needed, close to the places I wanted to visit. I didn’t expect anything fancy, and I’d stay again when I’m back.

It’s a quiet area, just up a small hill from the main road. Customer service is incredibly friendly, there’s always plenty of parking, and I’ve never seen any police activity. The rates are the best in town: $400 a week for two people or $370 for one, including taxes and such. There’s also a small $10 cash deposit for the room key, returned at checkout. The rooms are nice little spaces with plenty of room, and each one is a bit different, with its own character.
