Western Motel - Prentiss

We got in late while traveling through the state and needed an affordable place for the night. The front office was kind and attentive on the phone, checked that a room was available, and held it for us. The reviews are mixed, and the outside was plain. There was some clutter in the office, but the people there greeted us kindly. The room had a faint smell like it may once have been a smoking room, though it wasn't bad. The bed was made up, the sheets were clean without stains or tears, and the underside of the mattress showed no noticeable signs of bugs. The bathroom was clean and somewhat remodeled, with no soap scum, rust, or mildew. The carpet was worn, but for the most reasonable room rate we'd paid in years, the room was pleasant. People expect a Hilton for $50 and then complain. Our stay was good. Would I return? Yes.

Not bad for a night's rest.

I'd stayed here before without any problems, and the room was okay for the price, but I won't return. The first room had an unmade bed, and the clerk moved me to another one without trouble. There were no towels, and the smoke detector was hanging by its wires. After midnight, while I was in bed, I heard people talking and then my door started opening. I guess it was housekeeping. The manager should have knocked and said who she was before opening the door. I've never known a motel or hotel to barge in and wake a sleeping guest to check for vacant rooms. She could have spoken to me the next morning or called, since they had my information, and explained what she was doing and apologized. She didn't. Very poor customer service. I'd advise people not to stay here.

We didn't stay because the hotel was dirty and felt unsafe. There were cigarette burns on the toilet and bathtub, and the walls were black with dirt. The microwave was rusty, the fire alarm had wires hanging out and wasn't even connected, and the lamp was hanging by its wires. It was disgusting. I don't recommend staying here unless you want to pay and waste your money.
