Presque Isle Hotel

We came back for a second five-day stay, and this time the pool was closed even though we’d been told it would be open throughout our visit. The fire alarms went off all morning, with no warning. When I went into the hallway, the housekeepers were laughing and said the fire marshal was there, then kept laughing. Our first five days had been wonderful: room 251, the huge double king suite, was gorgeous, and the big jacuzzi tub was so relaxing. I went to the pool every day, sometimes twice. It felt like a huge hot tub, and the bar and restaurant food was delicious. The people running the hotel were so sweet and welcoming. I’d happily stay again based on that first visit, but the return trip was disappointing.

We planned on two days for a little staycation, then liked it enough to add three more. Amit and Leslie at the front desk were so friendly and happy, we felt like we’d made friends. Everyone was attentive, and the room was really clean, with that great jacuzzi tub. The heated pool was the standout, basically a 10-foot-deep hot tub. It’s an affordable five-star experience in the county, and I can’t recommend Presque Isle Hotel enough.

The free breakfast was delicious. I had eggs and home fries, maybe the best home fries I’ve ever tasted. I was pleasantly surprised by this older hotel: my room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable with crisp new white blankets, and the shower got hot with great pressure.

We ended up extending our stay by three days. Management were very hospitable, and you can tell they’re working hard to bring the hotel back up to par. The spacious king suite was comfortable, the heated pool was amazing in winter, and the food was delicious. It was a little odd waiting for food in a full bar while wearing pajamas, haha, but the meal made up for it. I wish there were a fitness room, though the pool felt like a spa. A nice staycation, and I’d recommend it.
