Emeline

Our Christmas-time visit was lovely, with beautiful decorations and very friendly, accommodating staff. When the valet brought our car around, they spotted a flat tire and changed it without us even having to ask. The room was just right, the beds were comfortable, and having two bathrooms was great. The location was perfect too. We’ll definitely come back.

Suite 101 was a terrible fit for the relaxing vacation we wanted. It’s beside the restaurant kitchen and only three steps from diners in the courtyard, with no soundproofing at all. You can’t turn up either TV enough to cover the noise. The restaurant closes at 11pm, but the kitchen would probably still be cleaning and prepping until midnight, so we didn’t think we’d sleep and left. We’d booked through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts expecting luxury and robes, and got the opposite. The front desk and valet tried to help, but the hotel was fully booked. The area also felt run-down, with Times Square type tourist trap shops right beside the hotel. Fortunately, nicer parts of downtown are just a two-block walk away.

Rachel made our first stay at Emeline feel personal from the start. When I mentioned it was my first time, she upgraded us to the Collector's premiere one bedroom suite, with Craig Conover's Christmas pillows and even a Christmas tree. It was a thoughtful gesture that made us feel welcome and cared for. The hotel is stylish and warm, with Charleston charm and thoughtful details, but it’s the people, especially Rachel, who made the visit memorable. The service left such a strong impression that Emeline will be the only hotel I stay at in Charleston from now on. We’ll be back again and again.

The room was clean and had all the things my friend and I had forgotten to bring. Check-in and checkout were welcoming, and the coffee shop downstairs in the lobby was convenient and really good. Rachael, the hotel manager, gave us a complimentary welcome drink and checked later to see if we had everything we needed. We also had dinner at Frannie & The Fox, the onsite restaurant, and it lived up to the hype. I’d wanted to try this hotel for ages, and finally stayed during an October trip. The location was perfect, an easy walk to almost everything downtown. We were very happy and would recommend it to everyone.
