The staff’s love of hospitality really comes through in how helpful they are, and the property is a lovely base for enjoying Charleston. This was our second stay at 20 South Battery, and it was just as wonderful as the first. We’re already planning to return next time we’re in town. Highly recommend for a special getaway.

Abigail and everyone else made us feel so welcome, and Penelope, the adorable friendly pup, was a delight too. The location is hard to beat, and 20 South Battery is a stunning place with exceptional service. Our room lost a star because we visited during an unusually cold snowstorm, and chilly air came through the bathroom window. We couldn’t get that room warm, though I think it would be fine in ordinary weather. Thanks for a wonderful visit. We’d definitely stay again.

The house is fascinating to explore, and breakfast was good, coffee included. Abigail was a great host. We stayed in the carriage house in mid November, and everything was as described: clean, comfortable rooms in a quiet area that was especially peaceful at night. The tradeoff is a half-mile walk into town. I can see now how much upkeep a house like that must take, so I understand the price.

We had an exceptional stay and will definitely come back. The staff were top notch, eager to help, and knew a lot about local restaurants and attractions.

Richard was especially welcoming, and he makes an excellent charcuterie plate. The hospitality was top notch throughout our wonderful stay at 20 South Battery. Our room was clean, the mattress incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom beautifully updated. Breakfast was quaint and delicious, and eating in such a historic home made the experience memorable. We can’t wait to return.
