Sam at the front desk made check-in one of the best I’ve had. I travel a lot, and her enthusiasm and charm stood out. A valet greeted me with a smile in the carport that runs through the building, though I didn’t catch his name. On the sixth floor, Sam checked me in and shared dining options and directions. The room was small but enough, cute and clean, with simple decor that felt intentional. Comfortable bed, and a nicely done bathroom with tile and glass doors instead of a crappy fiberglass tub shell. Downstairs, the front desk connects to a great lobby with lots of seating, work areas with outlets, and a bar. Kendra was tending bar, and she was a delight, warm and personable, with quality crafted cocktails. I can’t wait to come back.

For our 13-year anniversary at the Moxy Hotel in Charleston, I called ahead to arrange a surprise for my husband. The receptionist was excited to help and made sure it was ready before we arrived. The room had rose petals, champagne, candlelight, and a personal note from Jen, which made it feel extra special. Everyone we met was kind and welcoming. The hotel’s fun, modern design and overall vibe were great. Uptown Social on King Street was an easy walk of about 15 minutes, with restaurants and nightlife around it. I’d love to see more hotels built with this same structure and energy. The only issue was the heater during an Arctic storm happening a few hours away. Our corner window room was hard to keep warm, so we understand why it struggled.

I’d let recent reviews lower my expectations, but the stay was lovely, from the valet’s warm welcome to the check-in greeting, complimentary drink at the bar, restful night, easy checkout, and cheerful send-off when my car came back. The room was perfect for one night, and I felt relaxed and welcome. I loved the art, pastel bedside lighting, the Marset lamp, pink hair dryer with attachment, steamer, and dark makeup cloth. The decor was exquisite and elegant, and the minimalist approach worked for me. The pink holiday tree on the first floor was lovely, as was the sixth-floor seating. If my family had been with me, they’d have enjoyed the pink lemonade and goldfish snacks on the 6th floor. Take a moment to try the phone’s bedtime stories option. Nicely done, Moxy. I’ll be back. If you have trouble sleeping, you might want a white noise machine.

The rooms were really clean and the staff were amazing, though the rooms felt trendy, small, and loud. The rooftop bar was beautiful, with great drinks and wonderful bartenders every night. My main concern was that we got a call one morning asking about housekeeping. We said no, but came back that afternoon to find our door open and unlocked. I’d left $5k worth of camera equipment inside, and thankfully it was still there.

Sam at the front desk quickly fixed an issue with my reservations and made the whole process easy and stress-free. She was sweet, knowledgeable, efficient, and her positive attitude really stood out. A great representative of Marriott, and a lovely way to start our trip. The rooms are smallish but very clean, with a spacious bathroom. The hotel is about a mile from the more popular parts of King Street, which was convenient and manageable. Thank you, Sam.
