Days Inn Charleston East

We had to stop for the night, otherwise we would’ve left. Other hotels had seemed seedy, with drugs and few people around. This place was lit up and populated, with only a few people who seemed seedy. If you can put up with the guy next door yelling at you from his house and the smell of weed, you’ll be fine. The sheets should be replaced. There was some stuff on one of our beds. I don’t know what it was, maybe it was just from being old.

My room was comfortable, and I was lucky to get one right by the parking lot. The neighbors were noisy, and the staff seemed bored, but there wasn’t much to be done about the neighbors. It was still good value, with a great location and a beautiful backdrop of the mountain and river. I had a good stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE WITH A PET!!! We paid an extra $20 for our small, well-behaved dog at check-in. The hotel keeps its pet-friendly rooms in one section, but our first room smelled so strongly of urine we couldn’t stay in it. My kids had their noses covered. The front desk woman was helpful within the limits of what she could do and moved us to another pet-friendly room. It smelled a little better, but still stank. There were stains all over the bedspreads, the chair was too stained to use, and we found a cigarette by the bed even though it was a non-smoking room. We had to stay because it was already late and we were traveling home the next day with two small kids. I paid the extra fee and still couldn’t take my shoes off in the room because it was so disgusting. The Days Inn promise of “clean, comfortable rooms” didn’t apply here. We left a message for the manager explaining what happened and got no response.

The shower had hot water and great pressure, and there were no plumbing or pest problems. The room was bright, with fresh white linens, clean towels, and a clean bathroom. It was only 12 miles from the airport, too. I travel often and want a motel that feels clean and safe, and this one delivered. I’ve added pictures for reference. This is a joint Super 8 and Days Inn hotel. I booked through Days Inn, though I don’t know if that affected which room or cleaning crew I got.
