Holiday Inn Express Suites Charleston by IHG

We were driving from NC to OH with our dog and had started to worry after reading bad recent reviews about mold, smells, and bed bugs at other pet-friendly hotels around Charleston. This hotel hadn't appeared in our first search because it's a little off the highway, but we're so glad we found it. Jean welcomed us warmly when we checked in around 9 pm, while getting us keys and directions quickly since it was late and we were tired. The room was spotless and had no smell at all. The bathroom, sheets, towels, fridge, and microwave were all clean. Our dog barely sniffed before settling into his crate, which says a lot. The Keurig was stocked, including decaf tea, the A/C was quiet and worked well, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had good pressure. I used the small gym in the morning. It had three machines and some weights, but was perfectly workable. We also discovered restaurants and shops all around the area. We joined IHG after this one-night stay, and since we make this drive several times a year, we'll definitely return. Not a single complaint.

We were impressed by how much cleaner the room was this time. My husband and I stayed a few days ago, and everything looked wonderful and clearly had been cleaned. The bathroom had a few paint or caulk spots, but it was clean. The rooms look much better than on our previous stay, so I'm glad we gave the place another chance. Keep it up and we'll be back.

The staff were fabulous and really cared about making guests comfortable. The hotel is handy for everything, with some restaurants within walking distance. It's being renovated, and our room had new furnishings and was comfortable. Breakfast was good, though the seating area is small. I'd happily stay here again.

Our room was clean and did the job, but we'll choose another HHI location next time. There was no bathroom fan, so showering left the room extremely steamy and condensation everywhere. The thermostat didn't seem to control the fan unit, and the vents looked like they hadn't been cleaned.
