Motel 6 Providence - Warwick

The desk attendant was helpful and gave us useful information at check-in. The door locks, the sheets looked clean, and the room seemed to have a newer floor and a fairly fresh coat of paint. The TV had decent channels, though it turned off when the room light did. The bathtub still had the last guest's soap and a big clump of hair stuck to the wall. The wall by the bed was filthy, the smoke detector was missing, and the comforter was so thin it was basically another sheet.

The room had a terrible urine smell, like cat and dog pee, and the bedding and towels looked dingy, as if they hadn't been washed with detergent. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the room's table had just one chair. The two beds shared a single nightstand, with one bed pushed against the wall. The window opened all the way and had no screen or lock. We saw people entering and leaving their rooms through windows, and at night there were lots of what looked like drug deals. One night, police kicked in the doors of three rooms over drugs. Rats jumped from the dumpster and trash bins, ran through the parking lot, and scratched and squeaked at the air conditioner while fighting. Dogs barked day and night, and I couldn't tell which was worse, them or the rats. We also got prank calls at 1 a.m. The caller told us to ask the desk for fresh bedding because of bed bugs. My husband rang the service buzzer five or six times before anyone came. When he explained, the desk worker denied making the call, said it must have come from another room, and told us to unplug the phone. The front desk staff were rude and no help. They also charge extra for a microwave or refrigerator. Pets are allowed without a fee. I heard the hotel had housed homeless people for months, so they might have urinated on the floors too. This place was filthy and smelled awful. I'll never stay here again.

The location worked well, with restaurants and shops nearby, and the price felt like good value. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-kept, with what I needed for a short visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, making both check-in and check-out easy. I had a pleasant stay at Motel 6 and would gladly return.
