The front desk worker was kind and moved us quickly to a warm room when we found our first one freezing. Its window was wide open and broken so it wouldn't shut, and the heater was unplugged. He even helped carry our bags. In the new room the beds were comfortable and the TV was big, though we didn't use it. The desk lamp only worked if you jiggled the cord, there was no clock, and above the beds there seemed to be exposed wires where a smoke detector should have been. The bathroom was okay but worn down, and its loose outlet felt like it might pull away from the wall when unplugging something. The hallways were awful, with trash and gross stains outside our door, through the corridors, and along both staircases. The elevator was out of service. That was manageable for us, but it makes the upper floors inaccessible for people with mobility issues. The pool room smelled like algae, not bleach or chlorine, and we wanted to get out of there. A guest a few rooms away had two dogs barking extremely loudly through the night and morning, with no response. We came to the continental breakfast an hour before it ended, but the choices were grim. I can only speak to what was left by 9:30. As a vegan, all I could have was plain toast. I was told the sausage, biscuit, and gravy were decent. We didn't use the fitness center, which looked small but usable. There is guest laundry, and checking out by text was convenient. Our room looked over the Meijer parking lot, not beautiful, but handy if you needed something from the store.
The room was quiet, clean, nice, and affordable, and the service was friendly and helpful. It worked perfectly for what we needed, and being able to walk to a Meijer was handy. The pool was clean, though there weren't any towels there. Breakfast was offered, but several basics were missing. They had a few sausage links, eggs, yogurt cups, and biscuits, plus apple juice, cranberry juice, and coffee. The waffle maker had no batter, none of the four juice dispenser options worked, and the cereal dispensers were empty. It was disappointing, but not enough to spoil an otherwise decent stay. In the evenings, it could be difficult to find an employee when we needed help.
There's no sign at the front entrance, so finding the hotel was difficult. I suppose you get what you pay for, but this didn't feel like a three-star place. I booked through Priceline thinking I'd found a good deal on a three-star hotel, then arrived to something that seemed two stars at most. It wasn't very clean, and I wished I could have moved somewhere better straight away. Breakfast was disappointing, with no fruit, and I suspect the juice machine didn't serve real juice. Scrambled eggs were the only hot, healthy choice I saw. I ate them and had mild diarrhea several times afterward. One day I saw a staff member carrying the eggs in a used plastic bowl, so I stopped eating them altogether. The bathroom outlet didn't work either.
The location is good, with a Meijer, gas station, and a few fast-food places nearby. Still, I wouldn't recommend staying here. We were told a shuttle only needed to be requested 30 minutes to an hour ahead, but then told it needed 24 hours' notice. Breakfast was disappointing too. The desk lady said the truck hadn't arrived and they were making do, so there was only cranberry juice and no waffle mix. We took a carton of milk, but it was six days past its date. There may not be a hair dryer in the room. We couldn't find one and the front desk said they had no spares, and that it should be behind the bathroom door if provided. Also, our one-night stay was listed at $99 before tax but came to $150.02. Tax alone was $41, or 0.41% as I understand it. There's an additional $4.99 per person fee for more than two adults and two children, so this may not suit a larger group sharing one room. There are better chances at the hotel five minutes away.
This weekend's stay, January 10th to 11th 2026, was a huge letdown after more than two years of using this hotel for college drop-offs and pickups. It used to be convenient, with clean rooms and pool, everything working, and a great breakfast. The man at the front desk was still wonderful, kind and courteous, just what you'd hope for from a hotel employee. The beds were comfortable, but our room wasn't very clean. The bathroom tiles were all cracked, and we had to watch our feet so we wouldn't get cut. The remote was disgusting, and the hallway carpet was filthy, like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. The pool smelled strongly of algae mixed with chlorine, and the water looked cloudy. Again there were no pool towels, so we dripped water from the first floor up to the second and along the hall and stairs because the elevator was out of order. That wasn't surprising after the horrible noises it made in December. At least this time there weren't dogs barking all night. The breakfast was nowhere near a continental breakfast. We used to come for the waffles and hot food, but all we found this time were watery eggs, sausage, bread, and biscuits. No sausage gravy, cereal, bagels, muffins, juice, fresh fruit, oatmeal, or waffles. There were only two yogurts. You could make toast, but there was no butter for that or the biscuits, and the toaster only worked on one side. I gave this place five stars last time; now I can only give it one. There's another year and a half of college left, and I'm not sure we'll come back here.
