Homewood Suites by Hilton Providence/Warwick

I was moved here from the Garden Inn down the street because it was overbooked, and they called this an “upgrade.” The location was convenient for the Patriots-Texans game, but the property wasn't cared for and didn't meet the usual Hilton standard. The room floors were so dirty they turned my socks black, with hair, dirt, and trash swept under the counters and tables instead of vacuumed. The furniture had rips and stains. Chlorine in the lobby and halls was overpowering, and the room smelled strongly of cigarettes. Breakfast was disgusting. It was a quick trip, but I'd have switched hotels if there'd been another available nearby. I'd pick somewhere else around Providence-Warwick.

We came to Homewood Suites in Warwick, RI for my niece’s wedding, and the stay left me seriously reconsidering Hilton. I'm a longtime Hilton customer, so I expected better. Our flight was delayed, and we arrived close to 1:00 AM after calling ahead and being assured our reservation would be honored. Room 100 smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and something else unpleasant, had a bedroom door that wouldn't close, and a loose electrical outlet. The next morning we asked to move, but were told nothing was available; spraying the room was the only offer, and it didn't help. We were finally moved to Room 101 on the second morning. That room was much better, but one toilet was clogged when we arrived. What frustrated me most was that staff never acknowledged the problems or apologized. Housekeeping confirmed Room 100 shouldn't have been rented, yet nobody showed concern, offered compensation, or gave sincere customer service. This was by far my worst Hilton stay.

We had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a decent kitchen and living room, plus a gas fireplace that was a nice touch. It worked well for what we needed, with easy driving and convenient access to Providence and Newport. The area itself is pretty meh. My family liked the breakfast, though I didn't go often. I'd stay again.

Mariah at the front desk was super nice and helpful, and the hotel is in a good area. But after one night on 10/17, I was really disappointed. I've stayed at many Hiltons with my family and on my own, and usually appreciate how clean the rooms are. This one wasn't up to Hilton standard. There were bandaid rapers on the bathroom floor, urine spots on the baseboard, and hair everywhere. The stove was covered in crumbs, and stains around the room took me five seconds to wipe off. When I complained, someone came to “Clean” without even bringing a vacuum. He wiped the floor and some other spots with rags, putting used rags back in the bag with the clean ones and pulling out another “clean rag” from that same bag. Then I opened the blanket from the closet and found eyelash extensions on it; the other blankets in the bag looked like they had makeup stains. All that happened, and the only thing they did was wave my $10 parking fee.
