Hilton Garden Inn San Antonio Downtown Riverwalk

The team made our birthday weekend feel special from the moment Crystal checked us in through Tahsin and Destiny checking us out. They were welcoming and smiling whenever we saw them. Dee and Jonathan were terrific with valet, helping us park, chatting pleasantly, and bringing our vehicle promptly when we needed it. At the bar, Femmy was on the ball when we arrived and again at breakfast when we left. Eric made me a killer old fashioned on our last night, and Ralph and Chris put out an appetizing breakfast spread. Laberta, Jessica, and Maria in housekeeping were fantastic too. Everyone went above and beyond.

The rooms were good, and the hotel itself was good, but Q at valet is what made this place feel like a home away from home. He made our family feel welcome and safe whenever we came or went, whether we were using valet or not. Since the parking level connects straight to the rooms and the lobby is on the second floor, we didn’t see much of the front desk. Q’s friendly greeting when we returned meant a lot and would be the main reason we come back. We visit San Antonio often and have stayed at lots of hotels, but hadn’t found one that felt like home until this stay at Hilton Garden Inn Riverwalk. Q’s service was impeccable, with careful attention to detail and kindness beyond what we expected. He seems truly happy to help people. Hilton and the local management should recognize and appreciate him. Thanks to Q for making our trip special.

The room stayed quiet even though the hotel was busy with conferences and sports tournaments, and the location worked well for my work trip: a straightforward half-mile walk to the conference center and close to the Riverwalk. There was free wifi, though it got spotty now and then, but I could still keep up with work from the room. I appreciated having a fridge and microwave, and Walgreens is a short walk away for drinks and snacks, alongside the lobby selection. The staff were friendly and wonderful, even though we didn’t need much. Tahsin at the desk was great when we asked for a shower mat because the tub was very slippery. The bathroom sign says you can request a nonslip mat, and Mario from housekeeping seemed to bring one right away. Breakfast costs extra, but they do have fresh coffee and hot water in the lobby in the morning. I’d consider staying again next time work brings me here.

We’d happily stay here again despite a couple of issues. The Sunday night rate was great, check-in was pleasant, and they welcomed us as Hilton Members. Our king room was spacious, the bathroom was large, and the bar was decent. The 11th-floor rooftop view was awesome. It’s close to the Riverwalk and overlooks the Alamo on one side. The drawbacks: parking is valet only, starting at $47+, even though the website led us to think there was self parking. There was also a cleaning issue in the bathroom, and the downtown setting can be noisy for some.
