La Quinta Inn & Suites Warwick Providence Airport

Janet, if I'm remembering the name right, made breakfast the best part of the stay. She made sure everyone had what they needed, kept the fresh, really good food stocked, and left the tables and counters spotless while greeting guests and responding quickly. She even made another pot of coffee because she didn't think the first batch was good enough. The kitchen door was left open so guests felt comfortable asking questions. You could tell she loves her job, and she made the stay much better. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, the TV worked great, the price was reasonable, and the staff were great. The shower pressure was weak and the fan didn't work, but those weren't big issues and probably aren't common in most rooms. The location was fine, with easy access from the main road, lots of nearby places to go, and great parking. There's a sewage plant down the street, though, and some mornings or evenings weren't pleasant outdoors.

We'd booked one night at La Quinn Inn & Suites by Wyndham Warwick Providence Airport, plus six days of parking and the advertised airport shuttle both ways. Our check-in date was Sunday, January 11th. After a long travel day and a 10:20 PM arrival, we expected to take the shuttle. I called the front desk at 10:29 PM and was told it wasn't available, and Uber was suggested instead, despite the 4AM-11PM shuttle hours listed on the website and booking sites. Family friends insisted on driving us over late that night because they also thought it was ridiculous that the advertised amenity we chose the hotel for wasn't available during its stated hours. We got to La Quinta Inn around 11PM. Before reaching the desk, we saw scattered parking lot trash and a filthy used condom in a parking spot, thankfully away from the car's tire. Check-in went fine, but the elevator smelled awful, worse as we went up, and its walls were filthy. The carpet by our room was dirty with more bits of trash. I opened the room door for about five seconds and saw a cockroach run from the bathroom toward the bed. I've never felt my skin crawl like that or wanted to leave a place so fast, despite having stayed at many hotels and resorts across the U.S. and abroad. We carried everything back to the lobby immediately. The front desk associate offered another room, but I was adamant that I didn't feel comfortable spending the night there. I politely asked about a refund and an itemized receipt, but was told La Quinta Inn couldn't handle that because we booked through ParkSleepFly.com. I asked for a manager and was told none was on site or available to speak, so I was given a business card. After that nightmare on 36 Jefferson Blvd, we called another place at 11:19PM and booked right away, spending more money and time traveling than expected. I'd rather sleep in a nice tent outside than at La Quinta Inn Warwick. I wouldn't recommend it or want it listed on booking sites. Never again.

There was no water pressure at all, even though our room was on the first floor. The rooms aren't maintained well, and some have no locks. The downstairs door that's supposed to be locked after 9pm was left open. People in the room next to us went in and out ALL NIGHT. It's a motel/hotel. The one saving grace was an okay continental breakfast and the attendant, who was the nicest, warmest, most helpful person there.

The breakfast buffet and the woman running it were the bright spot. She was a gem, showed genuine hospitality, and made sure guests had what they needed. The rest was underwhelming: the ice machine on our floor, elevator, and washing machine were all broken, leaving the washer/dryer unusable. Our room was okay, but looked dingy compared with the shiny rooms in the ads. It also seemed odd that only one set of towels was initially provided for two guests. The front desk staff had the personality of a box of rocks. If I'd read this review before booking, I'd have chosen another hotel.
