Days Inn by Wyndham Princeton

Our updated rooms were clean and comfortable, and the beds and pillows were good. The rate was decent, and there was a small breakfast in the morning. Since we were traveling on the highway, the location was perfect for us. Couldn’t ask for much more.

I’m leaving for Quality Inn around the corner, where it’s only a few dollars more and the breakfast is better than the Rice Krispies this place serves. I’ll be here at least two more weeks, then back for another month in April, but I’ve had enough. After a spill from my friend’s ginger ale can ashtray while we were gathering our things, they’re trying to charge me $200. She’s a smoker, but doesn’t smoke indoors, and two workers saw her outside smoking and even remarked on how good it smelled. I don’t smoke. The room I got when my trip was extended was decent at best, with wallpaper coming loose. My first night, I could hear the lobby heater from my room. They moved me, but I came back for a second night. On the third night, the heater was audible again, the sink had a three-inch burn, the TV froze on every channel, there were no towels or soap, and there wasn’t even a bathroom light. The door wouldn’t shut unless the little swing kept it partly open. I learned a few rooms down, an older woman was staying in another room where the door wouldn’t shut either. I can’t believe they thought that was okay. Around 3 a.m., I went to the lobby to buy a Coke and nobody was at the counter. I found the employee outside smoking, and he made me wait six or seven minutes while he finished. Earlier, they’d put me in a room where the lobby heater could be heard. They did move me, but then I came back a second night.

Kaylee at the front office was so nice and accommodating, and made sure we had what we needed while eating the hotel’s breakfast. She was the highlight of our stay today. The bathroom toilet handle was broken. We arrived late, so we didn’t complain, but let her know before leaving.

I booked through Expedia, and they charged my account three weeks ahead, on the day I made the reservation. That became a problem after my awful stay at this Days Inn. My room smelled of urine, the carpet was nasty, and there was no toilet paper. The front desk moved me to another room, but I had no heat all night, the smoke alarm was broken, and I had to cover a hole in the wall facing the beds with a hotel bath towel. I told the “manager” Kayleigh the next morning and got “I’m sorry for your experience,” with no offer of a refund or compensation. I contacted Expedia about what happened and was offered a $25.00 cash key. I’m blown away by the lack of accountability. Please don’t book at the Days Inn by Wyndham in Princeton unless you don’t care about having heat in winter or a clean room. I’d give them a negative rating if I could.
