Hilton Providence

Shalonda made check-in easy and was attentive and helpful throughout our visit. The whole front desk team was friendly, courteous, and went out of their way to make things enjoyable. I especially appreciated that the guests I brought along received the same considerate treatment. As someone who stays with Hilton often, I was pleased that Hilton Providence met the standard I’ve come to expect. A great experience from beginning to end.

For one night, maybe it’s manageable, but I wouldn’t recommend spending money here until things improve. Everything seemed to be under construction, and there was no pool or free breakfast. A friend’s wallet went missing with room service, and some rooms had no AC. Only one very small elevator was open, and it broke on our last day. A family with four little girls was stuck inside for about 20 minutes, and staff had to use two crowbars to get the doors open. Really a very mid experience.

I had a wallet stolen with my cards, ID, and insurance, and the hotel handled it terribly. I raised it with five different staff members and got no concern or useful help. Departments didn’t communicate, I was given different updates from one day to the next, and I had to go to the front desk myself whenever I wanted to know what was happening. Five times they promised to call me with an update at a specific time, and not once did anyone call. I received no compensation or discount. They claimed they hadn’t had a complaint in 10 years, though I overheard at least five other guests complain during my stay. They also advertised a pool and free breakfast, but offered neither. Only one of the three elevators worked, and it often broke down. Our room had no ventilation. Save yourself the trouble and stay at The Graduate instead.

Only one of the three elevators worked during a week with a big conference, a cheer competition, and a youth hockey game. The restaurant service was so slow the first night that my group nearly missed a concert, and the food was overpriced. In our room, it smelled like wet dog, the sink drained poorly, and we had to set the thermostat to 59 degrees to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. From the restaurant to the bathrooms and elevators, too much here failed to work as expected. Good luck.
