Extended Stay America Suites - Providence

Mark at the front desk was one of the kindest, most welcoming people I’ve met, and honestly I’d come back just because of him even if the room had been awful. Luckily, the room was great, like a nice studio apartment and unlike any room I remember staying in. It had a full-size fridge, microwave, small stovetop, and all the usual things, plus a nice bathroom with a tub, a comfortable bed, and a TV. I loved the place. Next time I’m in Rhode Island, I’m staying here.

The room was clean, and that’s the only good thing I can say. It was small and institutional. There was a kitchenette but no coffee in the room. The lobby was supposed to have coffee at 7 a.m., but there were no cups and the machine wasn’t working. Nobody was at the window, which was closed. The first thing I smelled on entering was pot. The neighbors were noisy. I won’t stay at a WoodSpring Suites again.

For a week, the price worked well, though I think I’d rather have the amenities of a full-service hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly, but keep in mind this isn’t a full-service place. There’s no pool, and if you stay more than one night, you won’t get maid service. You’ll need to ask the front desk for fresh towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, and other basics.

The bed was really comfortable, and the shower stayed hot, so the stay was decent. The place looked lovely and was super clean, and I liked that there was no carpet. The kitchen didn’t come with anything to cook with, despite the online listing, so bring what you need. The fitness center was also advertised online, but there wasn’t one. And the walls are really thin.
