La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Pueblo

We had trouble with the key cards almost every day from Monday through Friday. They kept stopping working, so we had to return to the front desk to get them reprogrammed. The service also depended on the shift: the morning staff were pleasant and helpful, but several afternoon and night staff came off as rude and dismissive when we asked for help. The towels were another immediate concern. The supposedly clean ones in our room had grown man’s hair on them. It grossed out my 4-year-old son and left him itchy, so I had to make him shower again more than once. It made us question the cleanliness right away. Breakfast was bare minimum and the same each day: scrambled eggs with sausage links or patties, waffles, cereal with only 2% milk, apple and orange juice, coffee, and water. No variety, pancakes, bacon, or much beyond those basics. Even the water dispenser looked like it hadn’t been changed all week. The outdoor pool and hot tub were still marked “closed for the season” in mid-May and had no water, so the advertised amenities weren’t really available. I usually like La Quinta locations, but this was easily my worst experience with the brand. The stay felt unclean, inconvenient, and disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Pueblo.

There was a horrible smell as soon as we entered the suite, and the couch and mattress had clearly seen better days. Getting the pullout bed open was very difficult, and it had no bedding. The front desk brought sheets and three pillowcases, but no blanket or pillows to use with them. The desk person spoke so softly that it was hard to hear her. Also, two nights had been booked when I only wanted one. They said they couldn’t cancel because I’d used booking.com, but I hadn’t. I usually don’t complain, but this hotel is HORRIBLE!

The gym had only cardio equipment, nothing else, not even cheap dumbbells. We won’t stay here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it. The place smelled as soon as I walked in. During the whole week, room service never came once. I had to ask twice for fresh towels and also request more toilet paper. There was dog and cat hair everywhere, and the cleanliness was terrible. They don’t clean the carpets, so who knows what they clean.

The second room was even worse than the first. We were traveling with our two pets, and the hotel was doing repairs but hadn’t put the drywall back. My pets got stuck behind the tub. The front desk person was surprised they were still renting it, since they knew the room wasn’t ready for guests. In the first room, the keys wouldn’t work. I went to the lobby three times for replacements before they finally worked, but the room had no working A/C-heating unit or telephone for outgoing calls, so they moved me. I would not recommend this hotel. Pay extra and stay at Holiday Inn or Candlewood Inn.
