Giles Hotel Inn & Suites

The hotel sits on a slight hill, so the outdoor patio has great views. It's close to the usual places you need and easy to get downtown. There is plenty of free parking and a very clean fitness room, too. The beds and linens were comfortable, and the shades blocked out the light completely, which was great for sleeping late. It looks like they're updating some features. Breakfast ran only from 6 to 8 am, so anyone hoping to sleep in on vacation will miss it. The made-to-order eggs were really nice and unusual, but after 8 there was no breakfast. Coffee was always available in the lobby. They could consider a buffet with a few self-serve choices, like fruit, yogurt, pastries, and cereal, until 10.

I've been here twice since October, and both stays went really well. It's not fancy, but it feels safe, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The place stays quiet, and the staff, especially the manager, went above and beyond each time. Breakfast comes with the stay, which you don't often get at a smaller hotel. Getting there is easy, and check-in and checkout were straightforward. There's a nice fitness room, too. I don't really get the negative comments about the rooms.

The breakfast was much better than I'm used to, and they had a cook and wait staff at no extra cost. Everyone I spoke to was helpful and sincere. The room was spotless, with blackout curtains and shades, extra blankets, and pretty good coffee. Even working night hours, I could sleep during the day. They take Frito-Lay's CLC lodging and have four spaces for 18-wheelers out back. I don't know what the older reviews say, but it looks like they've recently added wider doors and a larger elevator for wheelchair access. It may not have been wheelchair-friendly before, but it seems to be now.

Everyone was welcoming and kind, from the owners to Winter at reception. Blanca added such a thoughtful personal touch to breakfast, which was a highlight.
