Cougar Land Motel

The staff were top notch, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed, a big TV, and free water and snacks. I liked the layout and the keyless room entry. There wasn't a desk to work at, though, which isn't good for business travel. I made do by moving a round table next to a chair. The exterior is old but neither good nor bad, and it was hard to get out of the lot. I had to book here because something was going on that weekend, and my expectations were low. It turned out better than I expected. Priceline listed free breakfast, but there wasn't any. They did have a notice saying breakfast is served during local "events".

I don't need anything fancy, and I'm not too bothered by hearing other people nearby. The rooms are cozy, with a comfortable bed and pillows, and the space felt roomy. The owners are really nice and truly pet friendly. It suited what I needed.

I made an online booking through the hotel's website after reading the Google reviews. I'm certain I checked my arrival and departure dates carefully before submitting it. Two days before I was due in town, I got a call asking where I was and whether they should keep holding the room. I explained that the reservation was supposed to be for later in the week. The woman seemed calm and said they might have to charge me for the night, but she'd see what she could do. I thought we'd had a friendly conversation. I also said I still needed a room on the date I'd intended, and she told me to call back to book it, which seemed odd. After we hung up, I checked the confirmation email. It had a confirmation number but no dates, and I couldn't find a way on the website to look up the dates using that number. I suspect the page reset to the current date when I submitted the booking, which would have made it for the following night, the night she called. I phoned again to explain what might have gone wrong and to reserve the room I actually needed. I was polite and respectful, but she became defensive and rude, saying they don't put dates on confirmation emails. Every hotel I've booked with has shown the check-in and check-out dates, number of guests, and number of nights. She said I wouldn't be charged for the canceled booking, but then refused to take a reservation from me for the night I needed or any future date. Isn't that an overreaction, a little psycho? That’s not good business practice. With that attitude, I'm happy to oblige.

This is a cute little motel, and the staff were kind and friendly. I liked getting a door code instead of a room key, with the code changed between guests. The room was clean, the bed really comfortable, and there were lots of pillows. They also have an electric vehicle charger. I'd stay again if I needed a hotel in Pullman.
