Motel Puyallup

I canceled after the manager said the website should have charged another $75 and they had to add it back to balance the books. He was belligerent when I said I'd rather go elsewhere, even if it cost double, and told me fine. I've since booked a room across the way, and now have two rooms through Priceline for about $100 more. I'd rather pay the difference than give my business to somewhere with such poor transparency. I have the two email ledgers showing the extra $75 being added. I booked through the hotel's website at the beginning of January. For two nights, the room was $103 a night plus $30.02 in taxes, $236.02 total. I'd paid a $75 deposit through the site, leaving a ledger balance of $161.02. When I called to upgrade to the larger room, listed at $115 per night plus $33.28 tax, the new total should have been $263.28. Instead, the confirmation showed $262.28 after the $75 deposit. The woman at the front desk couldn't understand the issue and said there was a $75 deposit fee on top of the room and taxes, though it wasn't listed on the ledger. The manager said the website couldn't take a $75 payment, but it had come out of my bank account. He said he'd look into it and call back. When he did, he said I hadn't explained that I upgraded, and that the website shouldn't have deducted the $75 from the room balance, so they'd added it back. He said I'd get it back, but even if I did, they'd added another $75 on top. This felt like a super shady business practice.
