Cadet Motor Inn Coldwater

I had a little puppy with me and nowhere else to go, but they kicked me out onto the street anyway. No pets. Horrible people.

The room was better than the last time I stayed here. The old, nasty carpet is gone and there are tiles now. It seemed clean, the air-conditioning was cold, and the shower worked well. But I wouldn't recommend this motel because of the staff's rudeness. The woman at the counter was disrespectful and insisted I was someone else. Even after I showed my driver's license, she kept accusing me of having stayed there recently. I had stayed there before, in 2006, and there's no way this woman worked there then. No white people did.

By the time I finally got into the room, it was almost 10 p.m. The A/C didn't work in my second-floor room, and when I called, they said nobody would be there to check it. Then I saw cockroaches roaming around. I was initially denied because of my service animal and given a hard time. Michigan law says entry can't be denied because of a service animal, and staff can't ask for paperwork proving it's one. My rights were violated, and I'm going to see a lawyer.

The smoke detector was missing its battery, and the room didn't look like it had been updated in over 30 years. It wasn't very clean either. I know it's a cheap place, but it can still be cleaned and maintained properly.
