The cabins are in the center of Terlingua, with about three restaurants nearby, a gas station, and Cottonwood General Store a five-minute drive away. It has everything you can think of. We enjoyed our two nights and will return soon. Nikki was polite, helpful, and made reserving the second night very easy. We had to change cabins because we booked one of the nights on the same day, though we would have preferred to stay in one cabin the whole time. Each cabin has its own animal themed wall design. They’re like tiny houses, so don’t expect a luxury hotel. Ours had a small porch, mini fridge, coffee maker, queen bed, and two little stands for nightstands. Wi-Fi was available but didn’t work properly during our stay. The bed was comfortable and the comforter, sheets, and pillowcases were clean. The cabin was clean too, including the little rug. I cleaned the coffee maker and changed its water myself, just because I prefer to. There were two water bottles in the fridge and a random selection of K-Cup pods for the machine. A binder had information about town, and there were two clean towels and two washcloths. There’s also a cute guest journal with lots of lovely notes from past visitors, so read it and sign it. Each cabin has a parking spot and a small back area with a grill. Out front is a shared spot to hang out with family or friends and have a bonfire. By Cabin 5, near the bathrooms, there’s a small breakfast area with a microwave and stove. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, so we didn’t use it. It was disappointing because it could be a great amenity, but being outdoors means it gets dusty and rained on. There are two bathroom areas. One is a full private bathroom with a toilet and sink, good for a couple or family. The shared area has a common sink, two separate locking restrooms, and a smaller bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. You’ll see other guests there, as you’d expect in a shared space. Both areas were cleaned daily. Some things could be improved, but nothing extreme, and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided. It’s dark on the walk to the bathroom at night, and it’s a bit far from Cabins 1 and 2, so bring a good flashlight. We were nervous about choosing cabins, and some Google reviews seemed extreme. Terlingua is hot and dry, so dust and strong winds can be expected depending on the season. If you want luxury, the cabins that cost around $1,200 a night are more that kind of stay. For what this place is, we thought it was absolutely worth it. If this helped, please give my review a like.

I’m sharing this because the room change policy may catch you by surprise: management reserves the right to switch pre-booked rooms at its discretion, and you may not find out until check-in. I booked one of the higher-end rooms months ahead for my family. It had a queen bed and a single bed in a loft. When we arrived, we were moved to a room roughly half the size and quality, with only an air mattress and a bathroom detached from the room that we had to reach by going outside and entering a code. Staff explained that another family had an “emergency” and that they’d done their best to accommodate everyone. I couldn’t understand why my family had to take the downgrade instead of offering that smaller room to the family needing an extra last-minute night. We were given the room we’d originally booked on the second night, which made the difference in quality clear. They also offered us a free night, but our schedule meant we couldn’t use it. I paid over $500.00 for two nights. I know things happen, but the customer service felt lacking. A partial refund would have been appreciated.

It works for a night, but research it first. For what you get, it was rather expensive, especially compared with other places on the same road. I was the only guest there, which seemed odd to me during winter. You have to go outside to use the bathroom, and the sheets felt like plastic. I never received a confirmation email or a receipt for my stay.

I booked three sleeper cabins for my friends and me as a place to stop and rest overnight. They were more charming than I expected, and you can tell care went into the amenities. If you come with the right expectations for a sleeper cabin and what you’ve paid, it’s really nice. The stars were beautiful at night, and watching the sunrise from the hill to the east was special too.
