Sleep Inn & Suites Queensbury - Lake George

We were in town for a ski trip, and the location made things easy. There's a huge Walmart and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. My dad and I stayed a few nights, and the fast WiFi, clean rooms and bathrooms, and hot shower were all great. The beds and pillows were soft and comfortable, and even the small gym was nice for getting a bit of movement in. Guest services were very kind, though we didn't need to ask for help. We'll book here again next year.

The room was clean and generally nice, and breakfast was excellent. Evening customer service was good, but the morning staff weren't friendly. Our key stopped working in the morning, and the desk had only set us up with one key. They didn't ask or explain why, even though we were leaving soon. The shower had nowhere to put our soap or hang clothes. The pool was the second reason I booked, but the water was cold for an adult, though kids might be fine with it. The wallpaper was peeling and needs attention before it gets worse. The bed was too hard, and one of us had a rough night. I don't know if that was because we were given a handicap room. I don't think I'd come back.

The front walk and sidewalk were dangerously icy, and the elevator smelled of smoke and weed. In the room, the sink was clogged, the toilet wobbled, and the bathroom fan made a horrible noise. There was only one tissue left, and I found a black bug on my pillow. When we reported the problems at checkout, the front desk didn't seem concerned. Very bad hotel and service. I won't stay here again.

The room had a damp, mildewy smell, and the popcorn ceilings made it feel dingy. Maybe the vent system needs replacing. There also wasn't a door for the toilet, and the hard surfaces could have been cleaned better. It cost $280 on Sunday night of Labor Day, which felt far too high for a 2-star hotel outside the village of Lake George. I expected holiday pricing, just not that much. On the plus side, the staff were welcoming and polite, the bed was clean and really comfortable, and the shower had good heat and pressure. Breakfast was pretty good too.
