Best Western Adams Inn Quincy-Boston

The morning breakfast was something I loved, and the staff were genuinely accommodating. The night auditor, whose name I'm sorry I can't remember, and the young women working mornings were wonderful. They knew what they were doing and meant what they said, and you can tell customer service matters here. The rooms were another story. I had to change rooms several times, and there was no hot water. The staff made things easier, but the room problems were frustrating.

Renovation work started at 7:45 on a Saturday, with hammering and power tools. That's disrespectful when guests are paying $150 or more a night. I skipped breakfast because I was too exhausted to get up before 10. The room was clean and the mattress comfortable, but the price wasn't worth it. The heating system was loud, the walls let hallway noise through as if people were in the room, and the bed frame rattled because its metal panels were loose. There was no privacy for a romantic night or weekend. A small motel would've cost less and might have let me sleep. This was my first stay and will be my last.

I grew up in Quincy and now live on the shore as an adult, and I'd always wondered what the place was like. I used to think it must be fancy. That impression is gone. Even if our room was supposed to be renovated, I wasn't impressed, and I'm never coming back. The room was tiny for the price, with barely enough space to walk around after I asked for a cot. We wanted a family-friendly room with space for everyone and for the kids to move around. The first thing I noticed inside was roach traps. Renovation noise was going on around 7:30-8 pm during the school and work week. They charged $10 for parking, including handicapped parking. I don't understand that policy for a place that isn't a five-star hotel, especially when there's a huge lot out back in addition to the small front lot. If you want a bigger room that feels worth the money, with space for a family, go to howard johnson up the street. It's much more worth it.

The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean, but my room was very basic. There was no internet for three days, and parking cost extra each day. On my third and fourth nights, the key stopped working, so I had to return to the desk to get the card reset. The cold-drink vending machine was out of order. Things could've been worse, but they could've been better.
