Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Racine

I’d stayed here once before and don’t recall problems, but this visit was rough. The price was higher than the one advertised on the sign, the shower faucet kept dripping, and the toilet tank lid didn’t fit properly, as if it belonged to another toilet. There were crumbs around the bed, the AC/heater was extremely loud, and the curtain wouldn’t close fully. We could see headlights coming and going all night, and people in both neighboring rooms and the hallways were loud, with banging on the walls. The hallway smelled strongly of marijuana too. The floors were hardwood, but the bottoms of the doors had what looked like water staining, perhaps from a previous flood. After a long day, we finally fell asleep around midnight. Then the fire alarm started chirping because its battery was almost dead. I told the front desk, and the person just took it down. There was no offer to move us or refund any money. It was hard to get back to sleep, and I had a 6.5-hour drive the next day. Breakfast was okay, but there weren’t eggs, potatoes, or anything like that. I’d really have appreciated a refund. Edit: Hello, you can send me the same copy-and-paste reply you give everyone else, lmao. But please do more than that and issue a FULL REFUND for the terrible inconvenience I went through, or I’ll dispute the charge with my bank.

We came back from a family party at about 1 AM and found a woman in our dark room, yelling and swearing at us to get out. I don’t blame her. The hotel had apparently given the room to her and her partner even though my husband and I had checked in earlier that day. We went to the desk looking for answers, and learned that “Rohith,” who checked us in, had made a huge mistake. We asked for both a refund and another room, but the person helping us said neither was possible. No one was hurt, thankfully, but it could have turned violent if the people in the room had a weapon and attacked us in the dark. With everything going on in society, I can only imagine what might have happened. This is a serious issue, and I won’t return. I checked in smoothly, as I usually have during my many stays here when visiting from Chicago, but after this incident I’m done. Avoid this hotel.

We appreciated how clean the hotel was and the value it offered. My mother and I also liked the hot coffee in the morning and the 24/7 service. Shops are close by in Racine, with some within walking distance. Getting to the rooms is easy, and availability can vary, so it’s important to reserve early.

The room itself was okay, and both it and the sheets smelled clean. It does seem to have been a smoking room in the past, though there’s no bad smell now. The bathroom let the stay down: the original shower curtain was moldy, as the pictures show. Also, the outlet barely keeps the TV plug in place.
