Brittany and Joe listened to our concerns and helped us plan a wonderful wedding day. Our daughter doesn't live locally, so I, as her mom, handled a lot of the legwork for her August 2024 wedding at Nesselrod. My husband and I had several meetings and many text conversations with Brittany and Joe soon after they took ownership, and they couldn't have been nicer to work with. The guest house gave the wedding party a great place to get ready on the day. The gazebo was beautifully set up for the ceremony, and the pavilion worked perfectly for the reception, where our daughter wanted minimal decor. If I had another daughter, we'd definitely try to book Nesselrod again.

Nesselrod on the New was an easy choice for filming a music video, California Sober- Randy Parker, because of its unique charm. Brittany, the host and owner, was gracious and helpful throughout. It's one of the NRV's prettiest spots, with scenic views, a large pavilion, lawn, gazebo, and amphitheater outside. The beautiful home has spacious areas for entertaining, and the guest rooms have lovely details. It's a great setting for both large and small events.

We went to the NRV Agency on Aging event there last night and had a wonderful time. The renovated venue looks gorgeous, and the new owners clearly care about the property and the guests. I'd highly recommend them for future events and stays!

The last-minute work on our wedding day added stress to an occasion that should have been joyful. Brittany and her husband were still stapling plastic around the barn just hours before the ceremony. The heated floors never worked, and even with a few space heaters, many guests wore coats inside. During the reception, Brittany and her husband sat at the edge of the dance floor looking at their phones. Two casually dressed teenage girls, accompanied by a dog, wandered freely around the venue and helped themselves to food. They disrupted the event and appeared in some of our wedding photos. The night before, Brittany sent a photo showing clear plastic stapled around the barn instead of the cream-colored tarps she'd said she'd use. When we raised concerns about the temperature and appearance, she refused to put up the tarps because of their expense. Her dismissive, defensive manner caused us a lot of distress on the eve of the wedding. Two weeks earlier, she'd texted that the barn walls wouldn't be built after all. A week before, she'd said the heated floors weren't working and might not be fixed in time. Guests had already committed to travel and accommodation, so changing or cancelling the venue then wasn't possible. When we toured Nesselrod on the New in Radford, Virginia, in July, the new owner Brittany assured us the barn would have permanent walls and heated floors by our November wedding. She also offered to decorate and asked us to share a Pinterest board. Earlier in planning, though, we received several different price quotes, waited over 10 days for the contract, and had to repeat details she'd forgotten. It created confusion and extra stress. After the wedding, instead of handling cleanup professionally, Brittany confronted our family about a bathroom mess and expected our formally dressed guests to clean it. She also encouraged us to leave leftover decorations and supplies for her personal use, which felt inappropriate. Our wedding was beautiful because of the love and support of our friends and family, not because of Nesselrod or its management. The owner's lack of professionalism, follow-through, and respect created unnecessary strain. A scenic venue isn't enough when service falls short. I'd urge future couples to think carefully before booking: professionalism, reliability, and communication all matter, and we didn't get them here.

I watched some of my best friends get married here yesterday, and it was a beautiful place for their wedding. Everything was fantastic. If I get the chance, I'd absolutely do service with them again.
