The staff and location are what make this place good, and I’d stay again if I needed to. My room was mostly clean, though the microwave had noticeable black marks in its grooves and the bottom of the metal bed frame needed wiping. Breakfast was decent, mostly carbs with coffee and juice. It could cost less, but I know the economy is rough. I’m glad they take pets, though the fee is 10.50 per pet, per night. Watch out in the narrow halls and around corners, since people or pets might suddenly come through.

The front desk lady was sweet, and getting straight from the room to the parking lot was convenient. The location is great too, with Food Lion, Dollar General, gas stations, and Radford University just a few minutes away. The $10 pet fee was good. But the room itself was awful. The hallway smelled terrible, the fridge looked like it had never been cleaned, and the microwave was dirty. The main light was missing, wires hung down the wall, and the bedside lights and most outlets didn’t work. We used the outlet by the TV to charge our phones. The TV was old and only had analogue. Outside, loud Mexican music and people drinking frightened my dog. We could hear people speaking both Spanish and English.

We won’t be coming back. The beds were clean, but that was about the only good thing. Our room didn’t look like the pictures: there were stains on the wall, what looked like black mold in the bathroom, and food or something spread across the carpet. The hand towel had black marks, the body towel had a clump of hair, and the hallway had dried stains that looked like vomit. The yellowed curtain let water onto the bathroom floor, the shower never got hot, and its knob was broken. There are plenty of other places to choose from, and I wouldn’t recommend this one.

For the price, I’ve stayed in places that were much worse and cost 50% more. The room was fairly clean and quiet, and it passed my black light test. I was alone on the second floor in a non-smoking room, though the hall smelled strongly of cigarettes and weed, with weed smell coming under the door. I’d stay by myself again, but probably wouldn’t bring my family.
