Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley

The lobby was bright and had a nice feel, and the breakfast was the best I've had at a hotel in a long time. The wait staff were super friendly, too. The area around the hotel is pretty and it's convenient for the mall, restaurants, and my office. The rooms themselves were just okay, and the towels smelled musty. When I arrived to check in, I waited at the desk with no one else around, but the front desk staff didn't make eye contact or speak to me.

After staying here for nearly 15-20 years, it's disappointing to see the quality slip. Over the past 3-4 years, the rooms have felt old and worn, and the elevators are slow and crowded. In room 402, none of the USB ports worked, the power outlets were so loose my chargers wouldn't stay in, and the water pressure was so weak that showers took forever. There were only two luggage carts, and they were always missing. Room service was good, and the location is central, but we were shocked by the encampments and homeless presence up Glenwood around Pleasant Valley. The property has changed over the years, and we'll look for somewhere else next time. Thanks, Raleigh Marriott Crabtree, for all these years, but it's time to move on.

The staff were friendly and attentive, the food bar was fresh and well cared for, and the rooms were cozy and spacious. I've usually loved this hotel brand for its rooms and service, but my work stay during the snowstorm from 1/24-1/26 wasn't restful. Every time the air conditioner kicked on, it sounded like someone was breaking in through the vent, so I slept badly. There was no salt on the ground, and nobody had shoveled a safe route from the hotel to the parking lot. I had to risk falling to get to work. When I returned that afternoon, the lot still hadn't been cleared. I expected better from this hotel.

The people here are on it and really attentive. The hotel was extremely clean, the bartenders were great, and the food was exceptional. Fresh pork rinds, too. Tim and the rest of the M Club crew had everything handled, and parking felt safe. I could keep going. Easily the best hotel in Raleigh.
