Ramada by Wyndham Raleigh

The front desk staff were outstanding, the facilities had fresh paint throughout, and my room was very clean. Breakfast was great as well. I recommend staying here, especially if someone is having a procedure at UNC Rex. I was given a discounted rate in my case.

It's an older property, but it was well maintained, with a spacious enough room and a nice balcony. The sound between rooms seemed well blocked, and the place stayed quiet enough, with no parties even over the weekend. I could hear doors closing, though, and the exit door near my room was missing its seal, so it slammed loudly whenever someone went in or out. I use white noise to block out sounds. I didn't feel as safe as I might at a more expensive hotel, but that's the tradeoff with a more affordable option. There were lots of people since it's a big place, but breakfast wasn't crowded. The food was decent, and the kitchen coffee was hot and decent. A solid four stars.

The parking lot was a little tight and awkward, though it wasn't a big problem. The location was very convenient for the WRNC Symposium at the College of Veterinary Medicine right next door. I enjoyed my stay. I didn't interact much with staff, but they were friendly and cordial when I did. Breakfast was good, and the clean, well-insulated room was quiet.

The night attendant looked after us when we arrived and helped with everything we needed, including a specific special request. We were happy with the room, though we arrived late for check-in and spent little time there during the day. We also came in late from church on New Year's Eve, not realizing breakfast wouldn't be ordinary. Instead it was a casual, buffet-style breakfast, and it was wonderful. The breakfast attendants and cooks were awesome. The front desk even helped us order pizza for dinner that evening. It was a wonderful stay and a great start to the New Year, with a great atmosphere and plenty of parking. I'll have to come back with my grandchildren so they can enjoy the pool in summer.
