Aloft by Marriott Ontario-Rancho Cucamonga

The mountain-facing view was perfect, and check-in was easy. The bar staff were friendly and the atmosphere hit the mark. It was a fun, relaxing stay. The only thing keeping it from being perfect was how small the room was.

I won't stay here again. I booked ahead at a confirmed rate, but when the payment apparently failed, nobody told me. I kept getting check-in emails saying my room was ready, with no mention of a payment problem. If they had let me know, I could have added another card right away. Instead, at arrival I was told no payment had gone through and that I had to pay the higher rate for that day. I had no real choice but to pay more, and the hotel wouldn't refund the difference even though they hadn't communicated the issue. Marriott sent me back to the hotel when I contacted them, and nothing was resolved. The communication was very poor, there was no accountability, and the customer service was unacceptable.

The location worked well, and the staff were friendly and accommodating when we asked to add another night. But the final bill came by email at about $100 more than the price we were first quoted for that extra night. We also had several problems in the room. There was no hot water at all in the shower, and the loose handle felt like it might come off. The TV had picture issues on every channel and shut itself off randomly. Street noise could be heard at all hours. I was disappointed with this particular Aloft property by Marriott and wouldn't recommend staying here.

The rooms are a good size. I had a two-double room by myself, so there was plenty of space, and it would still be roomy for two adults or a couple with one or two kids. The staff are business-friendly, and there are lots of activities at night. I gave it four stars mainly because it was within walking distance of our conference building. Food options could be better. There’s no real continental breakfast, just overpriced snack items that cost less at 7-Eleven, and a small microwave would be useful. There is a tiny fridge. The sanitizer or deodorizer used in the halls and elevator is so strong it makes you cough. I understand they may be trying to cover carpet odors, but regular carpet cleaning would be better.
