Rodeway Inn Ranger I-20

The TV didn’t work, which was really inconvenient. The bathroom was just as unpleasant: sticky floors and dirty tubs with grimy footprints. The door safety locks were broken, and the sheets and pillows smelled used.

My pregnant daughter, little grandson, and son-in-law had been in a car accident that totaled their car. I was driving from west Texas to pick them up, and asked the owner to let them stay in the room 10 minutes past checkout. He said he’d charge us for another night if they were still there at 11:00 am, so I drove 90 miles an hour and made it with 6 minutes to spare. The way he treated them showed a clear lack of empathy. If minus stars were possible, I’d give him minus five.

It’s right off the Interstate, so I guess it could do in a pinch, but I’d drive to eastland for a room if I could. The room smelled clean, but had a crack in the wall, residue on the counters and surfaces, and a stained blanket. The bathtub was in rough shape too, and I’m not sure how it got that way. I couldn’t bring myself to use the single-serve coffee maker because of the buildup and residue inside. Staff weren’t personable, and the housekeeper came an hour and a half early and walked in without knocking. There’s also a turtle behind the front desk in a murky green tank with no room to move around. After the owner called to ask why my wife left a one-star review, I figured I should elaborate.

We should’ve turned around and stayed somewhere else. The room was filthy, and even with the new mattress covers we woke up covered in bites from bedbugs. There were rodent droppings along the walls, a sticky trap under the toilet, and the floor was so dirty we had to keep our shoes on. Don’t stay in room 118. The lobby doesn’t look like the advertised pictures, and the couches outside the motel are rotting. DON’T STAY HERE!!!
