I ended up sleeping in my car. The website says the hotel is pet friendly but doesn't make clear that cats aren't allowed, only dogs. The Pet Policy says: “We are Pet Friendly and allow up to two dogs in a limited number of rooms. The size limit for any one dog shall be 80 pounds. The Pet Friendly rate is 30 USD per day.” Why call it pet friendly if it only means dogs? I booked three months ahead for a holiday weekend, but the front desk turned me away, and every other hotel in town was full. We've stayed at other Best Western hotels with our cats while driving cross-country and never run into this rule. Miserable hotel, miserable manager.

The location is fine, though it's a long way from downtown. Check-in was easy and quick, and staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel and room were clean and comfortable. I had a bathtub and enjoyed a hot soak before bed. The room also had a mini fridge, microwave, TV, desk, comfy chair and ottoman, and plenty of storage. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and other toiletries were provided, along with a POD-style coffee machine stocked with regular coffee, decaf, breakfast tea, and nighttime tea. You can also have food delivered to your room.

We had the queen suite, which was really roomy. The hotel has a nice pool and hot tub, and the breakfast area is pleasant, though the breakfast itself was average for a hotel. Staff were helpful and great. It's a good spot for driving, but you can't walk to much from here.

We've stayed here many times over the years and will come back when we're passing through Rapid City. It's a nice facility with good breakfast, and the pet fee is lower than most. The cost is generally better than other places too, and pets are welcome.
