Cambria Hotel Rapid City near Mount Rushmore

The pool was nice, and dinner was good, with an awesome waitress. The hotel itself was nice too, but a few things went wrong. Our TV's cable box wouldn't work, and after we reported it, the desk said someone would fix it. Nobody even came to look before we checked out three days later. The bathroom light switch was broken and really hard to flip. The microwave sounded broken, so we didn't feel comfortable using it. We also got locked out several times because the key cards failed. When the hotel was contacted for me, they denied all of those problems. Probably won't stay here again.

The staff were nice, and the lobby was pleasant. The room itself felt old and like it hadn't been updated for a long time. A metal strip was coming off the closet door, which seemed like a safety concern. The fridge knob had come off and was missing, so it left me wondering whether it was set safely. The sofa bed mattress looked worn, discolored, and low quality. There was dust on the Keurig, making it seem like no one had been there in a while. Management called to discuss my concerns.

I stopped by the bar at Cambria Hotel in Rapid City tonight, and Crystal was running things. She may be a little older, but she's an all-star behind the bar. There were only five of us, and she made everyone feel important. She listened, chatted with people, and clearly cared about her patrons. The bar stayed spotless while she kept everyone served and comfortable. Good drinks, even better service, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere thanks to her. If you're at the Cambria or passing through Rapid City, go see Crystal. She's the kind of bartender who makes you want to come back.

The place itself was nice, but it wasn't my favorite stay. Our fridge didn't work, and we weren't allowed to check in until 3 even though it was only 2:30. Then I stood in line for ten minutes. At 10:30 that night, kids were running and screaming in the hall and woke me up.
