Budget Host Raton

There was old dog crap smashed into the carpet under a table, the tub wouldn’t drain, and I found a head hair under the pillow. During the night, a brown recluse spider bit my daughter twice.

The room was beautiful, comfortable, and didn’t have the odd smell that so many hotels in the area seem to have. The bed was clean and comfy, and the ThermSol steam shower worked wonderfully. The woman at the desk was sweet, and they were very accommodating when we asked for a later check-in and check-out so we could rest after arriving late. The room was also a great price for how nice it was. Our large truck was easy to maneuver in the parking lot. The local streets aren’t lit very well, so arriving at night felt a little off-putting, though it’s quite beautiful during the day.

The managers made us feel welcome and kindly invited us in for tea when we arrived. Our room was clean and roomy, and the location is great, just a quick walk to downtown Raton. We enjoyed the stay and highly recommend it.

The vintage feel of the rooms was charming, and they were clean and comfortable. I was surprised by the steam shower, which I hadn’t requested, but it was great. Having a sauna in the hotel room is a major perk. Check-in was easy even though we got there quite late, and the owner-operator was helpful and responsive. It’s a small business, and any time I’m around these parts I’ll make a point of staying at Budget Host in Raton. It’s affordable and good value, so do yourself a favor and stay here.
