The office area is clean and has beautiful views, but driving farther into the park felt like arriving somewhere else. There was little grass, many roads and sites were bare dirt, and the lack of gravel let dust blow around whenever it got windy. We avoided sitting outside our RV, and even open windows let dirt and dust in. Parts of the campground also had a constant manure or sewage smell that was hard to ignore. For a Thousand Trails campground, the conditions were far below what I expected, especially with all the fees. Early check-in costs $30, and having the office accept a package costs $10 per package. Extra charges aren't automatically an issue, but the state of the campground made me wonder where the money goes. Soledad Canyon was easily one of the most disappointing Thousand Trails places I've visited. If you just need somewhere to park near Los Angeles, it may work. For outdoor time, fresh air, and relaxing at your site, I'd strongly suggest going elsewhere.

This was a great campground to stop at after a day of driving. The staff were so helpful and attentive. One maintenance worker on a cart noticed I might have a question, went out of his way to come over to my car window, and answered it. Belinda at the office was very patient with me over the phone, far beyond what she had to do.

The sites are packed so close that our slides nearly touched the neighbor's. On the other side, there were tarps and garbage everywhere, and weeds had taken over each site. Even the advertised dog run was overgrown. A little maintenance would make a big difference. With just a bit of rain, the campsite becomes a mud pit. This place is why Thousand Trails gets a bad reputation.

We especially like driving 15 minutes to Vasquez rocks, an otherworldly park featured in several sci-fi movies where we go bouldering and hiking. The campground is also handy for exploring northern Los Angeles, including Universal Studios and Magic Mountain. It’s a huge, lovely RV park in a beautiful high-desert setting among the mountains, with amenities like a pool, jacuzzi, game room, country store, and mini golf. Sites are enormous and private, and many have full hookups. It feels safe and secure behind the gate, with peaceful surroundings and nice bathrooms and showers. Some sites, such as those in section N, may catch sewer whiffs, though the edge sites have stunning views and the best Wi-Fi. Depending on your spot, you may hear road traffic now and then, and trains, especially in section K. There are also some nice tent sites along the river, which may nearly dry up in the off season.

Our K89 site was spacious, shaded, and had full hookups. The amenities were clean too. The RV resort was awesome, and I can't wait to return in summer.
