Extended Stay America Select Suites - Mobile - I-65

I’ve driven all over America as a professional truck driver and never had a hotel experience like this. The corridors smelled of food cooking, there was nothing around the hotel, and the workers were unbelievably rude. My colleague and I stayed for five weeks because it was close to Amazon, the only reason we chose it. The elevator wasn’t working when we arrived, and no one had told us. It still hadn’t been fixed when we left, so it must have been out for a while. My colleague had a leg problem after a car accident, but they put us on the fourth floor instead of giving us a first-floor room. The room was disgusting and full of bugs we fought the whole stay. The door gave us trouble every day, too. We booked and paid through expedia, but they only wanted to clean the room every other week. Maybe the hotel gets to pay less that way. There isn’t one positive thing I can say. Please don’t come here. Hotels like this should be reported and closed. This was the most disgusting hotel experience of my life, and it’s a shame a place like this exists. I’d give zero if I could.

We saw a roach in the bathroom as well as another one on day three, which we killed before putting down bait. I also found hair or dust in the AC and cleaned it as best I could. We were having breathing problems, and I think it may have been the cause. The room looked clean at first, but there was hair everywhere, as if an animal had been in there, and they hadn’t swept or wiped anything down. Someone had left pants in a drawer. The fridge was moldy, and they really don’t seem to clean anything. The linen was clean, though I had brought my own. We had to buy pillows because none were provided. Everything has a price tag, but we came prepared. For the price, I expected a bit more. It’s temporary for us. Our key cards kept needing to be redone because they often wouldn’t let us in past the lobby, even though they worked for the room. I don’t understand why that hasn’t been fixed. I don’t want to stand in the lobby hoping my card will work.

I couldn’t check in when I arrived because nobody was at the front desk. I called the corporate number, but it still took more than 30 minutes to reach someone at the desk. After that, they tried to put me in a smoking room, even though I’d requested a non-smoking room over a month earlier.

There was fighting in the hallways at 3am, the bathroom light kept shorting out, and some staff were really rude. I travel a lot and have stayed at other Extended Stays that were great, but I won’t be back to this hotel in Mobile, Alabama.
