We’ll definitely come back for another local stay. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, with antique furniture and hardwood floors that fit the building’s historic character. The mattress was very comfortable, and we didn’t hear noise from outside or other rooms. I booked it because of the hotel’s history, and Summer greeted me warmly when we arrived. Check-in was easy, and she shared useful information along with a few details about the hotel.

The staff made a lovely first impression when I checked in. They were welcoming and seemed proud of the inn and eager for guests to enjoy it. I stayed overnight about a week ago, and the place has a quiet elegance and lots of character. The building is old, but it’s clearly cared for, and its age adds to the experience. I’d like to learn more about its history, which has already made me curious. The rooms on all three levels open onto a beautiful courtyard. From my room, I could see the balconies, warm lights, and peaceful courtyard below. It felt tucked away, even though The Malaga Inn is right downtown. My room had the same antique charm as the rest of the place. If you enjoy history and distinctive old buildings, this inn may be for you. It has personality and soul, rather than the feel of a modern luxury hotel.

I arrived by Amtrak from New Orleans and got around Mobile on foot. Malaga was nearby, with a lovely property and courtyard, and my room was nice. I’d booked just a basic room, but the staff member upgraded me to one with a balcony after I mentioned that I appreciated booking directly without hidden fees. That was a thoughtful surprise, and I noticed it. I’d recommend both the inn and the Mobile/Amtrak experience. I also enjoyed Wentzell Oyster Bar for happy hour, where oysters were $12 a dozen and pony HighLife was $1. I went there for dinner both days because the oysters were delicious. The USS Alabama Park and the Maritime Museum are also worth recommending. Big thanks to Malaga Inn for hosting me during my time in Mobile.

We came across this place while in Mobile for New Year’s Eve, and it was a great change from the hotels we usually stay in. The room was clean, and its balcony, really a window that opened so you could step outside, added to the charm. The history made the room feel like a step into another time, while WiFi gave us a modern convenience. The staff went above and beyond for us. I’d recommend it if you’re after somewhere different with plenty of character.

The courtyard alone is stunning, and the owner clearly cares about the house and wanted us to enjoy it. I talked with him and could tell how passionate he is. We did enjoy our stay, and we made friends there who we’ll come back to see. My wife found The Malaga Inn while we were driving back to Missouri from a Florida vacation. We both love older architecture and like staying in historic houses and hotels. I restore old homes, and ours is a century old, so we understand that a place like this may not have a mini fridge, in-room jacuzzi, microwave, or lots of outlets for modern devices. We see staying here as a privilege, like getting access to a living museum. Its history, the additions over time, and family ownership since the 1960s are remarkable. It’s a miracle that homes this old still exist, and this one is in great condition. We’ll stay again.
