Americas Best Value Inn Rawlins

The room was clean and nice, and everything in it worked. The manager was easy to reach and checked us in, and the inside was cool and clean. The location is handy, right by I-84 and a T/A travel center, with plenty of parking and no garbage lying around. Breakfast in the morning was decent. The pillows were much too soft and left my neck sore, and the water pressure was only okay. The toilet and most faucets made that old motel rushing sound. The second-floor vending machines had already been picked over, with about three quarters of the stock gone. The outside doors also lacked accessible features like push buttons.

The front desk person was friendly, and the room was clean and a good price. But the coffee maker didn't work, and hallway and ice machine noise came through like there were no walls. Breakfast was ice cold, the biscuits actually had ice in them, and the gravy was probably around 38 degrees. There was also a missing outlet cover beside the bed, so this probably isn't a great place for kids.

We'd planned to camp on our way home to Washington after visiting my daughter in Colorado, but the weather pushed my husband and me to get a room instead. It was much better than a sleeping bag in a tent, and breakfast is free in the morning. The check-in was easy, the clerk was kind, the room was clean and quiet, and the shower was hot. I really don't have complaints. It's not a Four Seasons, just a place to rest well and get a hot shower. People can be quick to complain.

We were on the road for days and needed somewhere to sleep, but this Rawlins location was awful. I've stayed at this hotel in other places, and this one was the worst. I was charged too much for two rooms, and the man was creepy and wouldn't honor the price I'd been given. Both rooms had dead and live bugs on the floor. The shower head sprayed everywhere except on you, the toilet seat was broken and made you slide off, and the air conditioning didn't work. One of the workers walked up and down the hallway putting his ear to doors. The upstairs was loud all night, and the outside door was broken and slammed whenever people came in or out. We found someone else's clothes in the room. It was filthy and badly in need of cleaning and repairs, so we didn't sleep. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here. Go somewhere else.
