Best Western Rayne Inn

The room was only okay, with visible wear and some ugly stains on the couch. It had its own smell, like old clothes that hadn't been washed. We got the broken window open, and the odor cleared after about an hour, so we could sleep. The rest of the hotel was another story: the entrance, reception, ground-floor hall and even the third-floor hallway all smelled strongly of onions and curry on the night we arrived. I can't think of another way to describe it. The smell was still there in the morning, when staff seemed to have noticed and opened doors and halls to air the place out.

The third floor was musty and stale, and then this morning I woke up with red spots all over my legs and feet. I had them checked, and it turned out to be bed bug bites from one of the beds in our room. I saw the hotel's reply to a review about a month ago saying they have routine pest control, but it seems they need to call pest control again and do a much better job cleaning the rooms and property. After this, I would strongly recommend against staying here. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would.

The staff were kind and pleasant, but breakfast was nearly gone by 8:30 even though service ran until 9. A staff member came by and looked at what was left, so I thought he might bring more out, but he didn't. While we ate, an older Indian woman sat on the second floor staring at us with a mean look from 8:15 to 8:45, the whole time. As for the room, the two beds advertised as queens seemed more like full size. I checked online to see if we'd been given the wrong room, but there weren't even double options, so I assumed the listing was false and didn't bring it up. The carpet and floor felt so grimy I couldn't go barefoot, and the air never got very cold. It was stuffy, dark, dingy and old looking. We checked out today and probably wouldn't stay again for the price we paid.

We were in Rayne, Louisiana this weekend for the Kbon Festival, and I enjoyed staying at the Best Western Hotel. It was very clean, had a great atmosphere, and the staff were polite and welcoming. I'd recommend it to anyone traveling nearby, and I'd be glad to visit again.
