The employees were really nice and polite, definitely the best part of my stay. The place is basic, with modest rooms and facilities, and a coffee maker but no pods. You get what you pay for, nothing extra. I’m not sure how it counts as a 3-star hotel when it feels more like a budget stay. It’s acceptable for a quick stop and a night’s sleep, as long as you aren’t expecting much in the way of amenities or anything upscale.
The next door room had a crying baby and a toddler who nearly crawled out the door, and we could hear it through the wall. I went to the office at 6:30 in the morning because there was no coffee in the room, but it was locked. The bathroom mirror light was out too. When I called to ask about a room, I mentioned my service dog and was told there’d be no charge. Once we arrived, I was questioned about the dog and asked for proof. I said he could ask two questions and showed a card I carry. I’d also been told coffee would be in the room or office. Our room hadn’t been cleaned when we entered. As I was about to call the front desk, a maid arrived and said another room was nearly ready, so we could take it. Then she changed her mind and told us to wait while she cleaned the first room we’d been given. I had to wait for that. I won’t stay here again.
Wouldn’t recommend it. The bathrooms were moldy and lots of things need repair. The coffee maker didn’t work, the wall holes were patched with spackle but left unpainted, and the outside could use a good pressure wash and fresh paint. You get the bare minimum for your money.
The room felt like a health hazard. There were bugs, dirt across the walls, peeling paint, and a bathroom that looked like it might have mold. Dust covered the AC even though its “clean filter” light was on. I have asthma and a senior dog, so that was especially concerning. The TV didn’t work, which I could have overlooked if anything else had been even okay. When I contacted them for a refund as the agents had instructed, Jay Patel was argumentative and rude. I’d avoid this place completely. I plan to report it to the BBB, and it shouldn’t be open until they figure out how to run a hotel.
I was nervous about staying somewhere sketchy with everything I own in the car while moving from Portland OR to San Diego CA. The motel’s owner and his brother were so kind and promised to keep an eye on the parking lot all night, which helped me feel safe. The lot sits down a hill and has just one entrance, so it feels tucked away. I’d nearly stopped in Redding, but my car was acting up and I had to pull over here instead. The motel is right by the river. Red Bluff’s charming old-town main street is just across the bridge, with coffee shops and antique stores. I also found a bar called the Palimino Room on my walk last night. The food was great, the menu was full, and the bartenders and owner were lovely. I never leave reviews, and I almost want to keep this little place to myself, but this town deserves some love. A lovely stop after an otherwise scary car problem. Whenever I’m on the I-5, Red Bluff will be my stop. Skip Redding and come to Red Bluff!
