Red Lion Hotel Redding

The entrance at the back of the hotel by the gas station won't latch securely. You can open it without a keycard, which feels unsafe. Also, the hotel has no elevator, and that wasn't mentioned when I booked. In the room, it was dark and smelled musty. It was quiet apart from the heating and air conditioning unit, and there's no bathroom fan. After at least four stays, I've decided not to come back.

Friendly enough staff, and the place was clean and safe enough to sleep in. But it's dated, dim, and dingy, and didn't really match what was advertised. Several things, including the coffee maker and TV, weren't working. The staff could have at least tried to fix the faulty equipment, though I realize the hotel's lack of updates and upkeep isn't their fault. I'm not sure how it earned three stars.

I've found the Red Lion Hotels impressive. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the staff have been friendly and welcoming. There's also a fitness room for people who like to work out. I'd recommend it to families or solo travelers.

The front desk staff were kind and friendly, and the location is convenient to restaurants and things to do around town. The rest felt like a cheap stay in an old hotel. Our iron didn't work, people upstairs were loud, and there was noise in the hall after 10 p.m. The beds felt sandy, and some keycard doors were propped open late at night, which didn't feel safe. I won't stay here again.
