Dean Creek Resort

A little rustic and dated in spots, but very clean and well maintained. There’s a small arcade, a sauna, and a pool that’s always open, while the jacuzzi is open in summer. WiFi and a little store with refreshments and alcohol are handy, too. It’s in the beautiful redwoods, with the river just a stone’s throw away. The staff are so nice and inviting. This is my favorite place to stay within 100 miles, and I’ll come whenever I can. I never leave reviews, but I love this place all the way.

The room is huge and clean, and the towels are even folded nicely. Just expect home decor instead of a hotel look, with gleaming white, bleached sheets. Think of it as staying at your second cousin Thelma’s cool place in the forest by a river, and gifting her some money. If that’s the kind of stop you’re expecting, you’ll love it.

The sleeper cabins are rad, sleeping 5-6, with air conditioning, a mini fridge and microwave inside, plus a BBQ and picnic table outside. The pool is super cool and the hot tub is super hot, though both are seasonal. The river is gorgeous and fun to swim in, and Dean's amenities added an extra sparkle to our stay. This was my family’s second visit, and we enjoyed it just as much, if not more, than the first. It’s a remote, small place with a campground feel, so it won’t suit someone looking for the Ritz in the woods. But for a fun family trip with bright stars and a bit of magic, it’s the place.

Our cabin faced the river, with a nice view from the picnic table. It’s a fun, lovely place, and the office staff were very helpful even though we checked in late. There are a few cats around the office to welcome guests. The shower was lukewarm, though.
